St. Matthew’s church is a discipleship center – a congregation self-consciously devoted to making disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ. A disciple is one who learns by following God’s Son Jesus who teaches us the One God is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
St. Paul's Lutheran Church was the first Lutheran congregation in Wilmington, NC. St. Paul's was founded in the mid 1800s by German immigrants who had settled in Wilmington. Since English was the second language of most members, services were held in German.

Pastor Sam works full-time as the congregation's Senior Pastor. In addition to his primary work as chief preacher (4 weekly services) and teacher (5 weekly classes) and supervisor of staff and partner in ministry with lay leaders, Pastor Sam routinely makes hospital visits, has appointments for pastoral conversations in offices, restaurants, and homes, and is available for crisis ministry.
Holy Baptism is entrance into the Kingdom of God through that new birth from above by water and the Spirit
The Lord Jesus Christ defines marriage as the union of one man and one woman (Matthew 19:4-6)
