MARGARET BALDWIN FRENCH GRAVESIDE SERVICE 2/24/23 @ 1 P.M.

We will give God thanks and praise for the life of Margaret Baldwin French on Friday, February 24, at 1 p.m. at the Bethany Presbyterian Cemetery on Castle Hayne Road. Margaret had moved from Wilmington to Pearland, Texas, last year to be near children and grandchildren.

Margaret is the granddaughter of Carl Seitter, one of the founders of St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and the donor of the land on which the Bethany Presbyterian Church and Cemetery are located. Because of this gift, a number of spaces in the cemetery were reserved for Carl Seitter’s descendants. Many of St. Matthew’s first members farmed in the Castle Hayne area and provided flowers and produce that were shipped to northeastern cities from Wilmington via the Atlantic Coast Railroad, whose headquarters was located in Wilmington until the 1960s.

Rest eternal grant Margaret, O Lord, and let Light perpetual shine upon her. Amen.
