Prayers of the Church for 22 April, 2018

A: Let us pray with the Lord Jesus Christ for the unity and renewal of His Church on earth, for Bishops Eaton and Smith; for Francis, Bartholomew, and all bishops; for all pastors including Samuel Zumwalt, Marvin Schedler, Robert Weeks, Bob Kuppler, Peter Hoyer, Michael Megahan, and the Rev. Candidate Todd Cook; for all church workers; for Stephen Ministers; for the people of God, and for all people according to their needs.  [Pause]

A: Let us pray for the whole Church: that the Holy Spirit will make us joyful witnesses of Christ’s victory over sin, death, and the old evil foe. Lord, in your mercy,

C: hear our prayer.

A: Let us pray for all persecuted Christians: that the Holy Spirit will deliver them from all their enemies. Lord, in your mercy,

C: hear our prayer.

A: Let us thank our heavenly Father for the gift of life in this world; for all pregnant women and their babies, especially Catherine Morrow, Kelly Miller, Blair Hairr; and for those celebrating birthdays: Butch Ruefle; Riley Tucker; Janet Hall; Lynn Stophel; Ken Johns; Dwight Crim; Margaret French; and Ray Tyler.

A: Let us pray for all engaged couples and for husbands and wives that they may see each other as gifts from God, grow in dedication and love for one another, and so reflect Christ’s faithfulness to His Bride, the Church. We give thanks for those celebrating anniversaries: Gary & Margaret Ebeltoft; Butch & Karen Ruefle. Lord, in your mercy,

A: Let us pray for the military and for our enemies; for the grieving especially for the family of Barbara Bush. We pray for those who suffer because of disease, injury, injustice, slavery, hunger and sorrow, that they receive our Father’s comfort and care especially Pr. Bob Kuppler; Butch Ruefle; Joanne Johnson; Aleda Marggraff; Sylvia Weeks; Harry Comeskey; Dan Sparks; Ken Manning; Nancy Wells; Kathy Bink; Claire Hauser; Denis Hall; Becky Mahler; Kris Auch; Hazel Viola; Paul Ebert; Roy Moen; and those we name aloud or in the silence of our hearts [pause]. A: Let us pray for all the baptized who receive Christ’s true Body and most precious Blood: that the Holy Spirit will grant it to be for us the medicine of immortality, the antidote to death, and the promise of all things being made new. Lord, in your mercy,
