Sunday 11 AM Eucharist

May 23, 2021

We welcome you in Jesus’ name to celebrate with us on the Feast of Pentecost at our Sunday 11:00 AM Eucharist. Pastor Samuel Zumwalt, STS, preaches “The Word of God: Our Savior” based on Acts 2:1-21. From the console of our 47 rank Austin pipe organ with trompette-en-chamade, Bill Glisson leads on Sunday: “O Day Full of Grace” (Entrance); “Come, Holy Ghost, Creator Blest” (Hymn of the Day); “God of Tempest, God of Whirlwind” (11 a.m. Recessional). Our 11 a.m. distribution hymns are: “Children of the Heavenly Father”; “Come Down, O Love Divine” and “Spirit of God, Descend Upon My Heart.” You are invited to wear red to worship this weekend. The color of the day is for the fire of the Holy Spirit.

The Rite of Confirmation will be celebrated on the Feast of Pentecost at the 11 a.m. Eucharist.

Special music includes: “Komm, Gott Schöpfer’” (Nelson) is Bill Glisson’s organ prelude; “Come, Thou Fount” (Christopher) is the Adult Choir offering anthem at 11 a.m. “Tongues of Fire (Pentecost Dance)” (Fedak) is Bill’s postlude. Teresa Hall chants the ancient hymn “Veni, Creator Spritus” (“Come, Creator Spirit” in Latin) in place of the 11 a.m. psalmody. The Adult Choir chants “Come, Holy Spirit” (in Latin “Veni, Sancte Spiritus”), a hymn from the Taize community in France, during the Rite of Confirmation at 11 a.m.
