Sunday 8:30 AM Eucharist

September 19, 2021

WELCOME IN THE NAME OF JESUS! and Worship with us at our 8:30 AM Sunday Eucharist on the Feast of St. Matthew, Apostle and Evangelist. The Rev’d. Fr. Peter Stang Hoyer preaches the sermon, “The Word of God: Grace Personified” (Ephesians 2:4-10). Father Peter Hoyer, one of our retired pastors, does another of his barstool sermons. This time, Fr. Peter becomes the character of Matthew in order to open up what the grace of God in Jesus Christ means for his life and ours. Notice Paul’s repetition of the word “grace” in his letter to the Church at Ephesus. God does the rescuing and the claiming of us sinners.

From the console of our 47 rank Austin pipe organ with trompette-en-chamade, Bill Glisson leads on Sunday: “You Servants of God” (Entrance); “For All Your Saints in Warfare” (Hymn of the Day); “Lift High the Cross” (Recessional). Our Sunday distribution hymns are: “Oh, That the Lord Would Guide My Ways,” “O, Jesus, I Have Promised,” and “Blest Be the Tie that Binds.” The color for Sunday is red signifying the blood of the martyrs. You are invited to wear red to worship.
